A very special evening took place the last October 14 in Milan on the occasion of the ADI Design Index 2019, the annual publication of ADI – Association for Industrial Design – which brings together the best Italian design put into production, which in 2020 will compete for the award of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI.
Genea Armchair by Passoni Design, in addition to having been selected among the best design products of the last year, has received a SPECIAL AWARD FOR INNOVATION, with this motivation:
Interesting for the innovative process that goes in the direction of environmental sustainability: wood bending with water vapor, FSC certified wood, water-based adhesives. But above all, the ingenious coloring of the wood with the wine-based finishes – which uses tannic residues – is striking, and the use, instead of leather, of a 100% sustainable product, obtained from the waste of apple processing.
Genea is a Greek word that refers to the meaning of “birth”, “generation”.
The new armchair by Passoni Design is the result of the creative encounter between the company from Manzano and atelier oï: the harmony of the origin takes shape through a solid wood structure, modeled through manual processing and numerically controlled machinery. Thanks to a sophisticated process of wood bending, the back is doubled generating both the bracelets and the front and back legs.
Genea is also a symbol of ecodesign: the armchair is finished with four coats of natural oil, a record that has no equal, or alternatively can be customized with wine-based finishes, the result of an innovative research process, created in exclusive collaboration for Passoni with PelleVino Treatment®, that allows you to have colors unique and completely natural, using the best wines as a basic element.
